Introduction
This school, Shree Bahira Baal Ma.Vi. is the only historical special school in
Lumbini Province which was established in 2032 BS. This school is located in
Siddhartha Nagar Municipality, ward number 02, Meudihawa, Rupandehi, Nepal.
This School is
far from 28 km from Butwal on south, 28
km from Lumbini east (birthplace of Lord Gautam Buddha), 4
km from Belahiya India Nepal border point west and 2 km from
the Indian border to the north.
The founder of this school is Mr. Saryu Prasad
Sherchan. He is a person with hearing disability.
This school has been since 2032 in the primary level,
similarly Lower Secondary School Level in 2063, secondary
school level in 2065 and same as higher secondary school level has been in
operation since 2066 BS. In addition, the school has been providing skill-based
sewing cutting training to the students after passing secondary education.
At present, a total of 240 students with hearing
disabilities are studying in this school from 33 districts across the Kingdom
of Nepal
including
from the border area of India. Out of these, 121 students are taking
residential facilities in the school. There are
32 staff in the school among them 22 are teacher and 10 are non-teacher staff.
Current program details of the school
The programs currently being run in the school are as
follows:
- Child Development Class Operations
(Pre
Primary Level 1 to Pre Primary Level 3)
- Regular class operations from class 1
to class 12
- In every class of the school,
technology items, projectors, smart TVs and smart boards have also
been arranged.
- Teaching will be done according to
the special curriculum prepared by the Slow Hearing Welfare Institution at the
pre-primary level,
- Television has been arranged in the
hostel for entertainment and daily news,
- Group work has been divided to learn
and teach every activity done for daily living to the students living in the
hostel,
- A computer lab has been set up to
impart computer knowledge to the students.
- Students need educational knowledge
as well as useful life knowledge, so that the subject of horticulture has been
added under elective subjects at the secondary level.
- Laptops have been provided to every
subject teacher teaching at the secondary school level to prepare digital
educational materials,
- Among the community schools in
Siddharthanagar Municipality, only this deaf children's secondary school has a
school nurse.
- Arrangements have been made to
provide medicines for lice, sanitary pads,
iron
pills, first aid to girls, and medicines for
minor diseases according to the time.
- Two school buses have been arranged
free of cost to bring students to and from school.
- The awards were arranged by
conducting additional activities every Friday of the week,
- Various informative information was
disseminated in prayer in the morning,
- Although the Government of Nepal has
arranged lunch for the students studying in classes 1 to 5, the school has also
arranged free lunch for more students studying in hostels.
- The school provided pens, notebooks,
inks,
pens,
rubber, etc., as educational materials needed annually to the students
free of charge,
- Providing necessary ties,
belts,
identity
cards etc. free of cost to the students.
Some basic needs and problem in the school :- Signs Language have been developed only 7500 words in Nepal so far, there is a lack of problem in signs language to remind and explain the students according to the text book.
- There are currently 22 subject teachers working in the school. Most of those teachers are temporary in nature. As the government of Nepal has not been able to manage the service facilities of teachers on a permanent basis, there is an increase in the rate of trained teachers leaving school. As a result, the school has lost trained teachers.
- The school building was established in 2032. As the school building is without pillars and is currently very dilapidated, there is an absolute need for classrooms as per requirement.
- Deaf students also need training after academic knowledge. There is a problem in arranging the necessary infrastructure and scholarships for conducting the training.
- There is a problem because the educational curriculum and examination system taught in schools are not deaf-disabled friendly.
- There is a shortage of posts for additional staff (guards, wardens and nannies) in the school and school hostel.
- There is a lack of refresher training for teachers.

आज मिति २०८० साल माघ महिनाको १७ गते बुधबारका दिन सिद्धार्थनगर नगरपालिका वडा न.२ मा अवस्थित श्री बहिरा बाल माध्यमिक विद्यालयमा छात्रवृत्ति वितरण कार्यक्रम सम्पन्न भयो । श्री लिलाराम कुन्तीदेवि न्यौपाने प्रतिष्ठान, काठमाण्डौद्धारा वि.स. २०७५साल बैशाख २५ गते स्थापित रकम रु २,५०,०००।०० (अक्षरुपी दुई लाख पचास हजार रुपिया मात्र) को धनराशीको अक्षयकोष रकमबाट प्राप्त व्याजलाई पूर्व प्राथमिक तहदेखि कक्षा १२सम्मका जेहेन्दार जम्मा ३६ जना बहिरा छात्रछात्राहरुलाई रकम रु २,५००।००(अक्षरुपी दुइ हजार पाच सय ।) का दरले छात्रवृत्ति रकम वितरण गरिएको थियो । उक्त प्रतिष्ठानकी संस्थापक श्री कुन्तीदेवि न्यौपानेज्यूको प्रमुख आतिथ्यता एवम् विद्यालय व्यवस्थापन समितिका अध्यक्ष श्री खगराज पाण्डेयको अध्यक्षता तथा विष्णु प्रसाद ढकालको संचालनमा सम्पन्न भएको उक्त कार्यक्रममा सिद्धार्थनगर नगरपालिकाका वडा नं. २ का वडाध्यक्ष श्री छेदीलाल श्रीवास्तवज्यू, विद्यालयका प्र.अ. भिम बहादुर थापाज्यू, विद्यालय व्यवस्थापन समितिका सदस्यहरु, अभिभावक, शिक्षक, कर्मचारी, विधार्थीहरुको उल्लेख्य सहभागिता रहेको थियो । उक्त प्रतिष्ठानबाट विद्यालयलाई स्टेशनरीका सामानहरु वितरण गरिएको थियो । कार्यक्रममा विद्यालयका प्र.अ.ज्यूले स्वागत मन्तव्य, वडाध्यक्ष तथा प्रमुख अतिथिज्यूले मन्तव्य राख्नुभएको थियो भने अध्यक्षज्यूले कार्यक्रम समापन गर्नुभएको थियो ।
